Ohio Legislative Update
The Coalition of Interior Designers for Legislation in Ohio (CIDLO) is a not for profit, all volunteer organization founded in 1987 by fifteen interior designers from all over the state whose purpose of forming a coalition to pass a title act in the State of Ohio.
The mission of CIDLO shall be to set the State of Ohio interior design professional practice standards for education, experience, and examination required to protect the health and safety of the public. CIDLO shall promote a favorable business environment for Interior Designers in Ohio and protect their right to practice.
The Coalition is taking steps to build grass-roots across the state and to increase current membership. CIDLO is also focusing on educating interior design students on the importance of legislation in our state.
CIDLO needs Ohio Designers, Architects, Engineers, and Students to speak up and support interior design legislation. CIDLO encourages involvement and support by industry professionals to engage with the people, both inside and outside the Statehouse who are critical to success.
CIDLO depends on each and every member for financial and participatory grass-roots support. It is the keystone of CIDLO’s efforts to protect the professional well being of all Interior Designers in Ohio.

Kentucky Legislative Update
The Kentucky Interior Designer Legislation Organization (KIDLO) successfully helped to pass legislation in 2002 creating a Title Act to recognize Interior Designers. Candidates who have earned the proper educational degree, gained professional experience and successfully passed the NCIDQ exam or the Architect Registration Examination by NCARB allows them to be recognized as Certified Interior Designers in the State of Kentucky. There are currently over 200 active Kentucky Certified Interior Designers.
As a Certified Interior Designer in Kentucky (KYCID), designers are required to maintain continuing education equivalent to 12 hours per year (8 of which are to be focused on health, safety and welfare topics) to maintain and renew their certification. Our IIDA Louisville/Lexington City Center continues to develop and host quality FREE continuing education programs for our members.
