IIDA Columbus: Zero Landfill

Zero Landfill is a two-day, all-volunteer led, reuse program assisting the architectural and interior design community in identifying and collecting unused material samples. Thousands of pounds of materials are diverted from landfills and re-purposed by being offered to the public for their art projects, classrooms, DIY projects and more!

Thank You's All Around!

A huge thank you to King Business Interiors for allowing us to use their facility and volunteering their time on the weekend to allow us to host this event. Also a huge thank you to Fortner for providing food and beverages for our volunteers, and Swatchbox for collecting leftover materials. This event would also not be possible without the help of our IIDA volunteers!

On Friday, day one of our event, Architecture and Design Firms dropped off their unwanted materials. Volunteers worked hard to sort and organize the materials as they were dropped off. This year proved to be the year of carpet, tile and fabrics, and the volunteers made the organization of these items look easy!

On day-two, Saturday, the warehouse was opened to the general public. Visitors were able to shop through the materials and become inspired by what they were finding. It was wonderful to meet new people, catch up with our veteran pickers, and see the creative juices flowing as they were looking through the available materials!

Not only are we proud of the talent our design community has to offer, but we are also extremely grateful for the support we receive from our volunteers, partners, sponsors, and the public. All of these parties play a role in helping us reach our sustainability goals!

Be sure to follow along on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to be among the first to learn about Zero Landfill 2027!
