RECAP: Every Color Tells a Story!

IIDA Cleveland / Akron was happy to host inspiring IDCEC / AIA accredited CEU sessions on How Color Psychology Influences our Mood & Behaviors! Guided by Bri Lobe, Studio TK Marketing Manager, we explored the deep emotional and psychological effects of color in the built environment offering valuable insight into how color goes far beyond aesthetics.

Throughout both the lunchtime and happy hour sessions, attendees learned how color psychology can be strategically applied to create balance, energy, calm, or focus within a space. We explored questions like: Why does blue tend to evoke feelings of trust and stability? How can yellow stimulate creativity—or, if misused, cause anxiety? Can the right use of green truly restore a sense of balance and calm? As Bri explained, every hue has a psychological “story” to tell—and understanding that story is key to shaping meaningful and emotionally intelligent environments. The interactive discussions were complemented by delicious food, drinks, and a chance to connect with fellow professionals who share a passion for purposeful design.

When selecting color, which do you rely on more?

  • Strategy and theory

  • Intuition and experimentation

A huge thank you to Teknion for sponsoring this engaging event and to Studio TK for hosting us, and a special thanks to Bri Lobe for guiding us through such an insightful journey into the world of color! We appreciate everyone who joined us, and we hope you left feeling just a little more inspired (and a lot more color-conscious) in your design practice.

Stay tuned for more events like this—we can’t wait to keep the conversation going!
