IIDA Cincinnati / Dayton in partnership with Kimball was thrilled to host the very first Gallery event on October 20th. The event focused on bringing together industry professionals from around the tri-state to celebrate the magnificent work being done in the built space from local organizations. We wanted to work in conjunction with the CDA's (Cincinnati Design Awards) to kick off the award season by highlighting projects that were entered in last year's CDA26 as well as the inaugural IIDA Ohio Kentucky Design Awards. After crossing the backdrop on the red carpet guests were treated to a modern art gallery display paired with live music, 360 spin cam, and a buffet of local flavor from restaurants throughout Findlay Market.
The night kicked off with the presentation of the 2023 IIDA Cin/Day Member of The Year Award to Dan Binford. There is no one else we can think of who continues to give of his time and treasure to our organization so consistently. He has a real passion and vision for getting students engaged in the profession, exposing them and educating them on the manufacturer aspect of our industry. He has financed scholarships and several trips to Chicago for students around the chapter. While he is based in Cincinnati, his impact is felt throughout much of the entire chapter. He doesn't just financially support, but he actively participates, encouraging his sales team and other designers to attend and participate. It’s people like Dan that help the volunteers who put in countless hours to feel that their time and efforts are worth it and making a difference that the broader community sees and appreciates. He shows up in the small moments like Get Connected parking lot parties, and in big moments like having his team present awards at our inaugural IIDA Ohio Kentucky Design Awards. Congratulations to IIDA Cin/Day's biggest champion, Dan!
The night moved on to time for guests to mingle and admire the art, music, and food. Discuss the projects on display as well as projects still in process. Many found their way to the VIP lounge on the second floor and some to the beautiful patio with a wonderful view of Findlay Market.
We can't wait to see everyone back for the next Gallery event in 2025, celebrating the industry and the amazing work local designers are creating. The Gallery event will be hosted on the off years of the IIDA Ohio Kentucky Design Awards which we are happy to be hosting in Cincinnati in 2024!
