RECAP: LOU|LEX Zero Landfill 2026

June 5-6th, 2026 | Miranda Construction | 322 E Kentucky St, Louisville, KY 40203

What an incredible year for Zero Landfill! ♻️

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, who spent the weekend sorting, organizing, packing, and giving countless materials a second life. Their hard work behind the scenes helped turn what could have been waste into valuable resources for the design community.

Special shoutouts to Lauren Colyer, our Outreach Coordinator, for coordinating the logistics; Chris O'Toole and the team at Sloan for providing volunteer t-shirts (because saving the planet is always better in style); and to Nathalie Hernandez, our PR Coordinator, for creating this year's shirt design.

We are also incredibly grateful to Althea Burns and the team at Miranda Construction for generously providing warehouse space and access to their fantastic office amenities. Their support gave us the perfect home base for collecting, sorting, and preparing materials for redistribution.

This year, Zero Landfill focused on collecting and redistributing materials through our partnership with SwatchBox. The result? About 98% of donated materials were diverted from the landfill and sent to SwatchBox for reuse, rather than ending up in a dumpster—a huge win for sustainability and our industry.

A special thank you to ID&A for donating chair boxes that were essential for packing and shipping materials. We also appreciate Artisan for sponsoring Friday’s lunch and helping keep our hardworking volunteers fueled throughout the day. Every donation, sponsorship, and volunteer effort played an important role in making this year's event a success.

Through collaboration, creativity, and a shared commitment to sustainability, we continue to reduce waste and give materials a second life. Thank you again to everyone who supported Zero Landfill this year—we couldn't do it without you!
