For the fourth consecutive year, the IIDA Ohio Kentucky Chapter’s THRIVE Roundtable Event traveled to Louisville/Lexington, Cincinnati/Dayton, Columbus, Toledo, and Cleveland to hold open discussions on important topics defining the industry. This year’s topic was “designing a circular future.” The four-day program, which received the IIDA Changemaker Award and national recognition from IIDA headquarters in 2023, engaged 80 individuals from the region’s leading design firms.
Joey Shea, Manager of North American Sustainability at Interface, led the discussions, which explored reducing, reusing, and closed-loop recycling in the life cycle of products and materials, take back programs and their effectiveness on reducing waste, and ideas/solutions to make circularity the status quo versus the exception.
Topics included the need to change business models to be more purpose driven toward a more circular economy, how to leverage circular solutions with stakeholders, examples of circular models today, and successes and challenges of take back programs.
With programming designed to gather these local leaders, it allowed our Chapter to cultivate a better professional experience level. To share these insights, all discussions were digitally sound recorded by IIDA.
Thank you to all of the firm leaders who were able to attend in-person and virtually, it was a truly special event. Thank you to Joey Shea for his facilitation, it was lovely to have you in our region! See event photos below!
